Lake Yamdrok Travel Guide:

Yamdrok Lake is one of four holy lakes by Tibetan people. The others being Lhamo La-tso, Namtso and Manasarovar. Yamdrok Lake is considered to be part of the life-spirit of the Tibetan nation.

Location:

It lies within the boundary of Nankartse county, on the north bank of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lhokha Prefecture, surrounded by mountains.

Now I was 4,400 meters above sea level, And the Lake Yamdrok was just in front of me.


At 4,400 meters above sea level, Lake Yamdrok looks so pure.


Snow Mountain, Pure water, Everything is so quite.

What a typical Tibet sight!

Transportation:

You may take a bus or rent a car in Lhasa and it costs you two hours to cover the 100 kilometers distance. If you go by bus, you may stop at the Great Bridge of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, then visit Yamdrok Yumtso by Taxi. Renting a jeep for six people may cost you 1,500 to 2,000 Yuan a day. Many travel agencies organize a one-day trip to Yamdrok Yumtso in Lhasa too.

Don’t go there in rainy days, or you will see nothing in such weather.
